We generally start our season targeting the large quantities of Stripers that feed on the abundant Cinder Worm hatch in Rhode Island's estuaries. Usually the worm hatch starts in mid- April and continues through June. Most worm hatch trips are in the calm waters of Charlestown's Ninigret Pond, aboard our 17' Maverick HPX flats boat. The boat is maneuvered stealthily by one of our guides on a raised poling platform. It offers an exceptional opportunity for two people to experience one of Rhode Island's many fishing treasures. If you have never tried it, sight fishing is surely an exhilarating experience.
Before the worm hatch has started to fizzle, the flats have heated up and the rest of Rhode Island’s waters are teaming with Stripers. Everything from the schools of bass feeding on squid along the inshore reefs to the “cows” that will be taking residence in the cool, deep waters off of Block Island. We will target these trophy Stripers on any of the prolific reefs, rips, wrecks, and boulder fields that surround the island. We exhaust all tactics from fishing on the fly to live eel's well into the fall fun.
We can usually be fishing around the island within a half hour of leaving the docks aboard our 22' Contender, center console. This is the perfect vehicle for targeting most species in the diverse waters of Rhode Island. Our boats are custom built keeping the fly angler in mind with no places for lines to get caught in or on the deck. There won't be any fish lost to a tangle on a cleat or latch on any of our boats.
As summer gives way to the fall, Rhode Island once again heats up with fishing opportunities. Tons of bait will be flooding our coast lines and estuaries. The angling possibilities are limitless during this season. From the flats to Block Island, the many fall species will keep your head spinning and your reels humming. We will use any platform necessary fulfill any and all of your angling needs.
Finally, for anyone interested in cruising the beach with a fly or surf rod, we have beach driving privileges. A fully equipped Jeep and guide, allow you access to any of Rhode Island's 4wd accessible beaches. This is perfect for anyone looking to cover a lot of water and enjoy a day or night on the beautiful, ever productive beaches of Rhody.
As always, we are here to tailor the perfect angling trip for you. We would love to hear any ideas that you may have so that we may work with you to create the dream fishing opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you soon. Tight lines…..
“Fishing provides that connection with the whole living world. It gives you the opportunity of being totally immersed, turning back into yourself in a good way. A form of meditation, some form of communion with levels of yourself that are deeper than the ordinary self.”
